Go Green for Blue: 5,000 Gallons for the Fish

Denver. 3 Jun 2013 until 8 Jun 2013, 12:00 am
Organization: Go Green for Blue

Go Green for Blue: 5,000 Gallons for the Fish James Cameron recently challenged all Ocean Stewards to give up meat and seafood and replace it with a plant based diet, because it's far and away the most effective way of ending the damage we are inflicting on our oceans and ultimately on us. Since it takes about 25 gallons per meal when you eat a healthy, plant-based, Ocean Friendly meal, and over 1,000 gallons when you eat meat or seafood, we are asking people to give our Oceans a break by only eating a plant-based meal this week. That means EACH PERSON will save 5,000 GALLONS of water from being polluted in ONE WEEK. (Actually, that's 5 days - not even a full week!)

WOD at New England Aquarium

Boston. 2 Jun 2013 , All Day
Organization: New England Aquarium

Will celebrate WOD on Sunday June 2nd.  Pretty early in the process of planning at the moment, but over the past couple of years we have invited a dozen or more institutions to share information and to facilitate activities at tables in our large three-season tent.   Activities in the tent are free and open to the public.  We have had a chef presenting demonstrations about cooking with sustainable seafood, demonstrations of how seaweeds change color in hot water and why, student groups sharing their pledges to eat vegetarian at least once each week with explanations about how that choice relates to ocean ecosystem health, demonstrations of small submersibles that visitors can control, etc.  It’s a fun event that draws hundreds of people.
