Dumfries and Galloway’s World Oceans Week aims to promote understanding and enjoyment of the marine environment and raise awareness of actions people can take to support sustainable use of the coast and sea. Activities are specifically aimed at engaging young people and encouraging participation in new and exciting ways of enjoying the outdoors. Events also showcase the wide range of organisations offering volunteering and potential career opportunities linked to protection and sustainable use of the environment. The Celebration event is fully inclusive and free of charge with activities such as sea kayaking, species identification and arts activities in conjunction with local specialists.
