World Oceans Day is held every June 8th by people around the planet. It’s a day to recognize the importance of the ocean and take action to keep it healthy. This year we’re aiming for 1,000 events – help us reach our goal! Your event can be big or small, the only requirement is making a difference for the ocean.
If you’re new to World Oceans Day, don’t worry. We’re here to make planning your event as easy as possible. These are some very basic FAQs – if you have further questions feel free to email our coordinator. Check back for case studies and tips from other event organizers!

However, we also encourage you to take it a step further and encourage those who attend your event to take conservation action to protect the ocean. It’s great to celebrate our love for the ocean, but our end goal is to make sure the ocean is healthy for future generations. To make sure that happens, we can reach people when they feel inspired and positive (such as at a World Oceans Day event) and ask them to take action to protect the ocean.
